I missed out on pompom night

Joe Torre still killing me
Scott Proctor shut down again. Marlins have dropped out of first place. That was a fun run. On the upside, Jorge Cantu is 7-8 lifetime against Derek Lowe. So we have that going for us.

Jon Heyman calls the Lins a “Real Deal”
From cnnsi’s Jon Heyman, the Lins are not playing too far over their heads. I will say one thing I have noticed while watching them play is how much less potent the NL offenses are. Even though the Marlins don’t seem to have a solid bullpen, I definitely can smell wildcard!

Back on the winning streak
Nice weekday, come from behind win for Billy’s Boys. Another homer for Cantu. It’s always refreshing to see the Mets bullpen collapse again. As long as the Marlins can avoid teams from PA, things look bright!

Stomach punch loss
Tough loss for the Marlins tonight, giving up 7 runs in the ninth, six with two outs, to blow what would have been a good win against the world champs.
Course the Yankees and Mariano blew the lead in the ninth too (against Boston no less). Glad to see both fan bases suffering.

Two more wins
Nice win for the Marlins today, rallying from three down in the ninth and winning in extras for the second week in a row. Heredia looks like a really interesting player to me, little too much swing and miss, but
Saw the Yankees got blown out again. Wang and the middle relief are really quite suspect. I don’t know if the Marlins will win more than the Yanks, I still don’t think they have all the horses, but it is definitely been more fun to watch

Another Day, Another Win
Beat the Braves again, they are now 8-1, with all games played against other teams in the NL East.
They’ve been getting some stellar starting pitching, but I can’t see it lasting much longer. But I’ll enjoy the ride for now.

The Marlins have Cheerleaders!?!
Another quality win for the boys today against Atlanta.
But of more important news, the Marlins have cheerleaders, the Mermaids. The 2009 version is not online, but here’s the 2008 version.
I’m curious, do they do a dance routine on the dugout? I’ll have to find out more.

Wished I had watched…
I love watching baseball when two great pitchers are battling. Today’s game was perfect, 2-1 taking 2:04 to complete. That’s perfect to watch. I hate the 3-3:30 American League games that seem to drag on forever.
Not exactly thrilled about letting Johnson throw 113 pitches in his second start of the year, but great win for the ‘lins! Go Billy Go!

No Matter What Team, I Love Beating the Mets
Another advantage of being a Marlins fan, getting to watch the Mets bullpen collapse all year long.
Another different thing about rooting for the Marlins instead of the Yankees. With the Yankees, I was more scared of losing than looking forward to them winning. Anything short of a World Series victory was considered a failure of a season. So you really couldn’t fully enjoy their regular season victories. It’s nice to not have to stress about it.
